Meet the experienced doctors of Haywood Family Eye Care
Dr. E. Aimée McBride – Optometrist
Dr. McBride attended Clemson University, where she graduated at the top of her class in Biosystems Engineering. She obtained her optometric education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, where she was Valedictorian. Throughout her education, Dr. McBride received specialized training in ocular disease, contact lenses, pediatrics, and refractive and cataract surgery co-management. In addition, she was able to participate in many community service activities, including providing free vision care for low-income patients and traveling to Honduras to provide free eye examinations. Her favorite part about being in eye care is getting to know the people in her community.
In her free time, Dr. McBride enjoys photography, traveling, and hiking. Her favorite days are days spent with her husband, three young boys, and her Great Dane. She is a member of Lake Hills Church. She loves Waynesville and the mountains and looks forward to providing you and your family with comprehensive vision care.
Dr. Thomas Pinkston – Optometrist
Dr. Pinkston is a native of Florida and attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate education. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduation, he completed a residency in ocular disease and refractive surgery at Woolfson Eye Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, where he co-managed cataract, cornea and refractive surgery patients. Dr. Pinkston relocated to Western North Carolina in 2016. Dr. Pinkston believes the key to great eye care is a continued focus on communication with each individual patient.
When not in the office, Dr. Pinkston enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He is currently training to complete an Ironman Triathlon in 2021.
Dr. Lora J. Cretella – Optometrist
Dr. Cretella grew up in the Appalachian Mountains, raised in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University, where she graduated from the Honors Program with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Her rotations included working at the Santa Fe, New Mexico Indian Health Service hospital eye clinic and the Oklahoma Cherokee Nation hospital eye clinics. Throughout school, she was able to participate in multiple free vision care clinics in the USA, Mexico and Ukraine. After graduation, she completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She has now relocated to Waynesville, and is happy to be back home in the mountains! Outside of work, she enjoys many activities like hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, ballroom dancing, painting, and more. She looks forward to helping the Haywood Family Eye Care team serve you!
